# Local Cafes: Birdhill

Our chapter leader in Birdhill is [Alan Andrews](https://www.linkedin.com/in/alanandrews) who also runs The Barracks. 

He launched the Grow Remote community using the [intro deck](/talks-and-presentations/introduction-talk.md) and promoted it on ChangeX and various Facebook groups:

Alan also thought of a novel approach to helping self employed people work from the coffee shop. He introduced 'poker chips'.&#x20;
